What does this feature do?
One Click LCA offers adjustable End of Life modelling capabilities. The purpose of this change is to provide users with more choices to consider the impacts of the End of Life options used on a project. Note that the new EOL model is only possible to adjust in detail with Expert level licenses.
How can you use this feature?
Step 1: Set new End of Life modelling options
When using Finnish Carbon calculation tool according to Ministry of Environment methodology, it is mandatory to use 'Market scenarios' option for the project and choose the correct calculation period for the district heat profile according to the calculation period of the project. Only module D (Carbon handprint) is affected by this setting.
HUOM: Käyttäessäsi Rakennuksen vähähiilisyyden arviointi -työkalua (YM:n menetelmä) projektissasi, tulee tähän kohtaan valita 'Market scenarios' vaihtoehto ja valita vetovalikosta oikea kaukolämpöprofiili rakennuksen käyttöiän mukaan. Tämä valinta vaikuttaa rakennuksen hiilikädenjäljen laskentaan.
For tools where this capability is enabled, Expert level users can choose any of the following end-of-life modelling methods. This choice is made in the LCA Parameters query and applies for the whole project (to the exclusion of tools that do not apply the new EOL model).
- Material-locked – material type-specific scenario. This is the default option, applies to all non-Expert users.
- Market scenarios, user-adjustable – Set of EOL scenarios available for material type. The default option is chosen based on the standard practice on the market. Users can adjust the options per item. Users can also choose the EPD EOL scenarios for specific products if they so wish.
- EPD EOL scenario, user-adjustable – This uses the EOL scenario defined in the EPD (if defined). Users can also choose market scenarios for specific products in this case if they so wish.
The market scenario method considers the state of waste management regulations in the country. If the country is considered to have highly regulated waste management with effective landfill taxes and recycling rates (e.g. most of Europe), materials are recycled by default. In markets where regulations and landfill taxes are lacking (e.g. the Middle East), most materials are landfilled by default.
Users can adjust these options from ones available.
Step 2: Adjust the EOL process in the building material query
While on the building material query you are able to adjust the EOL process for each row of data,
Step 3: Review results on the results page
On the results page, there are expandable results for the EOL options, will either show only new or only old results

Tools where new EOL options are enabled
The new EOL options are enabled on a tool by tool basis. The first set of tools where the new EOL model is enabled includes the tools mentioned below. The new EOL model is enabled for other tools based on customer demand. Note that the new EOL model is only possible to use with Expert level licenses.
Tools where currently enabled | Life Cycle Carbon - Global, Carbon Footprint - NS 3720, Building carbon footprint (Ympäristöministeriö), LCA for BREEAM, LCA for LEED, GLA and RICS, Other tools with no predefined / mandated life-cycle model. |
Tools where enabled later | |
Tools where not applicable | Energie Carbone, DGNB, Milieuprestatie Gebouwen, IMPACT, All Infrastructure tools |
