EPD Quality Checker

Introduction

The EPD Quality Checker helps you identify potential issues in your EPD before submission, saving you time and resources. This tool provides feedback on the plausibility and completeness of your LCA modeling, reducing the risk of EPD rejection during verification.

Supported tools:

The Manufacturing Site Data feature is currently available for the following tools:

• EPD Generator for EPD Hub V3

Other tools will be supported in a future update.

What checks are performed?

The EPD Quality Checker performs the following checks:

• Mass Balancing: Verifies that the total mass of inputs equals the total mass of outputs.
• Biogenic Carbon Balancing: Confirms that the biogenic carbon input matches the biogenic carbon output at end-of-life.
• Energy Balancing: Checks for consistency in energy inputs and outputs.

Checks confirmed to be included with future updates:

• Transportation Completeness: Ensures that transportation data is included for all materials.
• Declared Unit vs. Inputs: Compares the mass of the declared unit with the mass of material inputs for consistency.
• File Completeness: Verifies that all required files, such as images, are present.

How to use the EPD Quality Checker

1. Calculate the results of your design
   1. Automatic Trigger: The EPD Quality Checker automatically runs when you submit an EPD to EPD Hub for verification.
   2. Manual Trigger: You can also manually trigger the check at any time during the EPD creation process by saving your design.
2. Navigate to the results page, and click on the 'open details' button under 'EPD Quality Checker'
   
3. Review the values provided, it currently provides feedback on biogenic, energy, and mass balancing.
