Release Notes August 2024

One Click LCA August Updates 

Our release this month rolls out several updates to existing tools with improvements and added features. The central thrust has been to improve usability within tools and plugins, towards greater productivity. Feedback as well as new emerging requirements from users and the sector, have been implemented in this release.

Building & Infrastructure LCA

Level(s) Life Cycle Assessment (EN 15804+A2)

A new version of this tool is now available and is automatically added to all licenses with the previous version of the tool. The new features are:

• updates to the GWP-biogenic impact category.
• uses GWP-biogenic value from the EPD.
• new UI that gives access to more energy consumption fields.

DGNB LCA tool for Germany

Updates to the tool:

• enabling “Use of net fresh water” impact category in the results as in the previous version (2018) of  DGNB DE. This impact category is an additional information in the results and does not affect the credit calculation of the indicator 3.1.2 as per the methodology.
• QNG data (Rechenwertetabelle) is now enabled in the tool. With this addition, the result summary now includes a separate row for aggregated A1-C4 impacts of the default building technology value (sockelbeträge) resources.

North American CalGreen LCA tool

Automatic report generation for the purpose of Pathway 2, Life Cycle Assessment of the CalGreen calculation methodology. Support for reporting Pathways 1, reuse of materials and Pathway 3, Product GWP compliance will be enabled later.

BREEAM tools (LCA for BREEAM Intl/ES/NOR/SE and LCA for BREEAM UK)

New data input UI with:

• new filters for “EPD program”, “Units” and “Type” to make resource search easier.
• “carbon clouds” are now available in the search results table as a separate column.

New Excel data import for building LCA

A new data import for building LCA is now available in BETA, enabling easy import of bill of materials data in Excel files and automatic mapping with resources in the One Click LCA database.

• Available for all building LCA tools. Excel files and related bill of materials data can be imported in many languages.
• Better support of imported Excel file, by giving you more flexibility during the import process.
• AI-Powered matching of imported materials.
• Improved resource search and additional suggestions.

Early Design & Ecodesign

New DFØ reference building in Norway region in Carbon Designer 3D

The DFØ reference building and related data are now available in the Norway region in Carbon Designer 3D, reflecting adjustments suggested by DFØ in Norway. 

The new region is called “Norwegian DFØ reference building” and should be of interest to all Carbon Designer users in Norway, especially those working with local municipalities. 
This update also includes 162 new constructions specific to the region, including foundations, columns, beams, walls, slabs, staircases, finishes, windows and doors. These constructions are now available with the Carbon footprint NS 3720 and other LCA data tools that use +A1/CML data.
This new reference building is automatically available to all users with a subscription for the Carbon
Designer 3D add-on, and either the Carbon footprint NS 3720 tool or another LCA tool that allow
CML data. 

Plugins & Integrations

New plugin for Solibri

Improvements to the plugin:

• Adjust Solibri parameter automatically generating environmental profile mappings in import to One Click LCA.
• Customize the content of the imported data.
• Assign environmental profiles to the different elements of the BIM model directly inside Solibri.
• Select material rows in the plugin and highlight them in the 3D model in Solibri.
• Save and reuse plugin settings.

General Enhancements

Materials Compass

You can now see manufacturers and their brands in Materials Compass. Both can be used for search and filtering.

Product LCA

 EPD generator for NMD Bepalingsmethode in Netherlands

This new version is now available with Ecoinvent 3.9.1 data. It is compliant with the Dutch national PCR.
Key features include:

• Ecoinvent 3.9.1 Database, aligning with the new NMD PCR.
• Additional Impact Categories in extra result table as required by the NMD.
• Compliant EPD and Background Report to facilitate verification process with NMD and 3rd party verifiers.
