This article describes our AI-powered mapping feature that helps users match imported data with existing resources from the One Click LCA database.
What is AI mapping?
When importing data, the software needs to link it to the correct entries in its database. AI mapping uses the imported name (and sometimes the project's country) to intelligently find the best match. It understands synonyms, spelling variations, and even typos, making the process smoother and more accurate.
How does it work?
- Training: The AI model was initially trained on a huge dataset of existing user mappings.
- Learning: The model continuously learns and improves as users interact with it. If you correct a suggestion, the AI remembers that for future use.
- Adapting: The system adapts to user preferences and regional differences.
How does AI mapping fit with other mapping rules?
The software prioritizes exact matches (like IDs or full names) and previous mappings by you or your colleagues. AI mapping comes in when these methods fail, significantly reducing the amount of unmatched data.
Key differences between new and classical data imports:
-
New Import:
- Supports more languages (English, Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian, German, French, Italian, and Spanish).
- Prioritizes resources from the same country as your project.
- You can see when AI was used in the "Mapping basis" column.
Classical Import:
-
- Supports fewer languages and only uses the imported name for matching.
- However, it's worth noting that AI mapping on old imports has already proven to be effective, dividing the amount of unidentified data by 10 on average for targeted tools.
How to use and improve AI mapping:
- Explore suggestions: You can click on a cell in the "Map resource" column to see more AI-generated suggestions and choose the best match.
- Provide feedback: Use the "report bad mapping" feature to help the AI learn and improve.
- Correct suggestions: Actively refine the AI's suggestions by choosing the most accurate resource. This helps the system learn your preferences and provide even better matches in the future.
In simple terms: AI mapping acts like an intelligent assistant that helps you find the right matches for your imported data, learning and improving with every interaction. By actively participating in the process and providing feedback, you contribute to making this feature even more accurate and efficient for everyone.
Where is the AI mapping available?
One Click LCA data import process
Please find out more details regarding the data import process here.
One Click LCA BIM integrations (Revit)
The AI mapping search feature is now available in the One Click LCA Revit integration.
- It’s important to note that AI mappings generated within the plugins may differ from those created during the import process. This is because the online interface provides the software with more comprehensive project information during the import.
- The AI mapping search uses the material's name and, when available, the One Click LCA user's country. Please note that this process differs from the One Click LCA import process, which references the country associated with your project.
