This guidance supports LCA for DGNB (DE 2023), which is designed to achieve points for the ENV1.1 criterion. All available resources in the tool are compliant with DGNB requirements for data quality, specific to each scheme. The tool allows for data compatible with EN 15804+A1 as per the certification and Ökobaudat generic resources.
Updates from Release in August 2024
With this update, the “Use of net fresh water” impact category as per the 3rd edition of the standard is added to the results. This impact category is an additional information in the results and does not affect the credit calculation of the indicator 3.1.2 as per the methodology. To see the results of “Use of net fresh water” impact category, the project must be resaved.
Additionally, QNG data (Rechenwertetabelle) is now enabled in the tool. With this addition, the result summary now includes a separate row for aggregated A1-C4 impacts of the default building technology value (Sockelbeträge) resources.
These updates are enabled directly to the existing LCA for DGNB DE 2023 tool.
The scope of the DGNB (DE 2023) certification includes the life cycle stages A1-A3, B4, B6 and C3-C4. D1 and D2 are also included but are reported separately.
What is included in the scope?
The included building elements include, among other things, the building parts from Kostengruppen (KG) 300 according to DIN 276 (2018) as well as defined building systems of KG 400. Outdoor components according to KG 500 are only to be taken into account if they are directly connected to the building.
All building materials with a share of more than 1% of the total mass of the building, more than 1% of the primary energy consumption (non-renewable) or more than 1% of the balance variable GWP100 must be taken into account.
The sum of the neglected building materials must not exceed 5% of the mass of the building, the primary energy consumption (non-renewable) or the balance variable GWP100.
Small parts processed on-site or in a factory (e.g. nails, dowels, screws) and product-specific small quantities (≤ 1kg) may be neglected.
In order to successfully complete your calculations for the ENV 1.1 criterion in One Click LCA, please follow the workflow below:
- Fill in the Building materials question of the design either manually or by importing your data.
Select the 'Kostengruppe' for the material in the drop down menu. Use the comment field for any additional information if you wish to include. -
Fill in the energy consumption input form with the available values from the calculation value table according to the QNG documentation (see here) and enter the annual consumption based on the energy calculations for your project. Added resources should then be classified based on their use:
- B6.1: Operational energy
- B6.2: Operation of the building, energy consumption of lifts or central systems. Only included for non-residential buildings.
- B6.3: User-based energy
- Fill in refrigerants in the Emissions and Removals query. The DGNB specifies that refrigerants do not have to be reported if they are natural refrigerants. Save the inputs and proceed with entering information about your reference building into the ‘Reference values’ question form. Save the inputs and proceed with entering information about your reference building into the ‘Reference values’ question form.
- Enter Core reference and Additional reference values based on the building type. The reference values are used to calculate the environmental impacts of your reference building. Reference building impacts will be calculated using environmental impact factors set by DGNB.
As a minimum include the annual electricity and heat consumption of your reference buildin - Enter the calculation period. As per the QNG guidance, to which the DGNB refers to, this 50 years for residential and non-residential buildings.
- Fill in the ‘Building area’ question form as specified, with the area of your actual building in both Nettoraumfläche (NRF, as specified in DIN 277) and Gross Floor Area (mandatory for results per m2 of GFA).
- Click on Results to see the attainable and gained DGNB points.
The supported indicators of the ENV 1.1 criterion are mentioned in the point tables titled 'Points, DGNB 2023 - Complete calculation method and simplified method'. The maximum available points refer to Indicators 2.2.1, 3.1.1 and 3.1.2 of the ENV 1.1 criterion in DGNB 2023. The points achievable from indicator 3.1.2 are divided between POCP, AP and EP according to the appropriate weighing keys. - Download your results to Excel by clicking 'More actions' and 'Detailed report'. The result summary is displayed per year per area (NRF or GFA) of the building.
The GFA results in 'A1-C4 gesamt' do not include B6 and the D stage is not included in summary totals, unlike previous versions of DGNB.
DGNB points are required to be shown in decimal numbers, which can be adjusted under more actions.
A list of data sources you have used for your LCA will appear at the bottom of the page.
